I am going to show you how to estimate the square root of 34.  First you have to figure out the two closest square roots to 34 which are 5 and 6.  5 x 5=25/6 x 6=36.  So to get the closest square root of 34  you add the two closest square roots 5 + 6=11.  Once you get the sum of the two closest square roots which is 11 then square it getting 5.5, but 5.5 is not closest to 34 when plugged into the calculato so my guess is 5.8
